This is the first time in 20 years that the home in San Francisco's Forest Hill neighborhood has hit the market.
A house hidden up on San Francisco's Forest Hill just hit the market, with plenty of historic local ties that make it a rare architectural gem.also known as the Cowell House, is a Bauhaus-style masterpiece, built by the renowned firm of Morrow & Morrow for the family of equally famous musician and composer Henry Cowell. The home is for sale now, asking $3.7 million.
Morrow was also a musician and tremendous supporter of music, a passion he poured into the San Francisco home built for Cowell. Cowell was a prolific and accomplished Bay Area musician and teacher, considered a rule-breaking “ultra-modern” composer; these avant-garde sensibilities are reflected in the unique architecture of the home. Its unpainted horizontal redwood siding, muntin-patterned glass, and rounded curves create a strikingly original design.
