The Giants’ $350M free agent signing was set to be introduced Tuesday, but the event was abruptly postponed.
The news conference the Giants planned to hold Tuesday morning was going to be as much an introduction of the newest face of their franchise, Carlos Correa, as a celebration of the club’s biggest free agent acquisition in a generation.
Less than three hours before it was scheduled to begin, Correa’s introduction was abruptly postponed. The Giants did not provide a reason for the postponement in a single sentence email sent to reporters at 8:15 a.m.at Oracle Park at 11 a.m. It would have been the first in-person introduction for a new acquisition since Gabe Kapler was hired as manager.with the Giants, was also set to appear on KNBR at 8:30 a.m. That appearance was also postponed.
While Correa hasn’t missed much time the past three seasons, he has previously dealt with back issues. The week before Christmas, it’s possible holiday delays are holding up results. While Northern California experienced a significant earthquake in the early morning hours Tuesday, it occurred more than 200 miles north of San Francisco and wasn’t believed to have impacted the Giants’ press conference scheduled for later that morning.
