SF Giants strike first, but lose to Atlanta Braves
SAN FRANCISCO — An energized win on Monday night set the table for the Giants to hand the Atlanta Braves a rare four-game losing streak.
The Giants struck first against Atlanta starter Kyle Wright, whose 55% ground ball rate ranks third best among all major leaguers. . They’d threaten again against Wright in the second inning, loading the bases with two outs on a pair of walks from Luis Gonzalez and LaMonte Wade Jr. sandwiching a hit from Joey Bart. But Yastrzemski flew out to strand the runners.
Jakob Juins couldn’t hold the Braves back. After tying in the second inning, Dansby Swanson broke it open with a two-run home run to left field in the third, scoring Ronald Acúna. Luis Gonzalez lost Travis D’arnaud’s line drive in the lights, letting the ball bounce off his glove to set up Michael Harris II’s RBI single to extend Atlanta’s lead to three.
