Wade’s rehab assignment was delayed after tweaking his hamstring; DeSclafani to start Saturday for Sacramento.

SAN FRANCISCO — LaMonte Wade Jr. was supposed to report to Sacramento on Thursday to begin a rehab assignment. But on Friday, before the Giants’ series opener with the Dodgers, Wade was roaming around the home clubhouse at Oracle Park.

“It sucks, given how hard LaMonte has worked,” manager Gabe Kapler said. “We really felt good about the way this last rehab went. I don’t know if we’re at the stage where we have to consider this a real setback, but we’re going to get through the weekend before we decide what’s next.” Before the scheduled start of his rehab assignment, Wade had received a series of anti-inflammatory injections in his knee.

“It was one of the better days he’s had in a really long time,” Kapler said. “I’m not saying anything is related to his knee in particular, but the body, it plays off of itself. … When a player is already compromised, other things are potentially compromised.”In better news, the Giants could have the services of Anthony DeSclafani available as soon as he is eligible to come off the 60-day injured list on June 21.
