Brandon Crawford missed 1 game with a wrist injury and homered in his first AB back.
CLEVELAND — After tweaking his wrist covering a stolen base earlier this week, Brandon Crawford returned to the Giants’ lineup for their series opener Friday night against the Guardians.
The home run, which landed 396 feet away, about a dozen rows up in the right field stands, was further evidence that Crawford wasn’t bothered by the wrist that got bent backward on a stolen base attempt Tuesday against the Padres. Before Friday’s game, Crawford was launching ball after ball into the seats during batting practice.
But after a day off Thursday, Crawford was back in the lineup Friday against Cleveland and made an immediate impact. While Crawford’s minor ailment wasn’t enough to send him to the 10-day injured list, the Giants are getting closer to getting back the trio of position players who were sidelined to begin the year.
Kapler said it was a “possibility” that the Giants could start to get those players back by the next home stand, which starts April 26.
