A Mobile County man accused of forcing a woman to marry him on the steps of a church had sexual a sexual assault charge dismissed against him Monday after the alleged victim failed to appear in court, court records showed, in a case the presiding judge called “one of the top 10 craziest cases” of his career.
“Easily one of the top 10 craziest cases I’ve heard I my entire career,” Cheriogotis said in court on Monday, according toHe allegedly asked the woman if she could give him a ride home and on the way to the car he allegedly brandished a gun, the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office said. Clowder then proceeded to drive the car to a church where he made the woman “marry” him on the steps outside, officials said.
