The SPC said a “couple tornadoes” will be possible in the watch area, which also includes one county in Mississippi and one in Florida. Forecasters said showers and thunderstorms in the Gulf should spread slowly east this evening, and a few will be capable of producing tornadoes.Earlier today forecasters had said to expect the greatest chance for severe weather from the mid-afternoon into the evening hours.

Rain and storms will also be possible statewide today, but severe weather isn’t expected in the rest of Alabama. Localized flash flooding will be possible in those areas, especially this afternoon through this evening.The weather service said 2 to 3 inches of rain would be possible in the region through Sunday morning.
