A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for our area until 12 pm.
– Now it’s Florida’s turn for strong and severe storms this morning after Georgia got the bulk of yesterday’s tornadic activity.
Round two targets the I-75 area of north Florida and southern Georgia with severe weather early this morning. By 9-0 am the storms will be over Jacksonville. The effects of the storms will cause wind gusts up to 50 mph could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects and may cause hail. Tornado risk is lower today because the storms are not arriving in record 96-degree heat which we had yesterday in Jacksonville.By noon severe weather risk will be over and the severe thunderstorm watch will end but scattered showers will remain through the afternoon until we completely dry out early this evening. Some pockets of rain will still be possible when school buses return this afternoon.Weaker afternoon showers this afternoon but drier in Georgia.
