KERR COUNTY, TEXAS - A powerful severe storm struck Kerr County late Thursday night, and the strong winds caused a structure to collapse at Gravity Check Saloon & Arena on Kerrville's South Side.

"The storm came in and just hit all this construction work and crumbled it down to the ground," says Michelle Peterson, an employee at Gravity Check. The construction site was no match for winds of 60 to 70+ mph that slammed Kerr County. "He's building this cover for the arena just to have shade and shelter. There was going to be fans up there rotating to keep it circulated, to make it cooler for the people and the animals, for the rodeos and bull riding," says Peterson. Although the damage is extensive, no injuries were reported, and the construction is expected to move forward as planned. "He's going to move forward with it and clean it up and get it ready so we can have our events out here again," says Peterson. Along with the winds, the storm dropped baseball-sized hail. Thankfully, we did not see any significant damage in the area. For residents, they were just happy to see a good storm that increased flow on the Guadalupe River. "I'm liking the water level high like this. It's a little murky, but it's going to feel good," says Lakehills resident Steven Jasso. "We just pray for more rain." Areas south of Kerrville saw pockets of 2-4 inches of rain. Something we need to see more of to keep a flow on the river and increase lake levels.
