Australia's east coast is dealing with the aftermath of severe storms that led to flash flooding , inundated cars, and emergency calls for assistance. Brisbane was hit by a thunderstorm on Sunday, turning roads into rivers and causing significant waterlogging. In one hour, Rosalie recorded 70mm of rainfall, and Holland Park West saw 77mm. Upper Springbrook on the Gold Coast experienced over 260mm of rain in 24 hours.
The rapid onset of rain exacerbated the flooding, leading to multiple rescues by emergency services. Queensland's SES received 91 storm-related calls, and the Fire Department reported four water rescues. Sydney also faced flash flooding, with over 25mm of rain falling in an hour, causing disruption to train services and forcing the NSW SES to respond to almost 200 calls
