The severe weather that moved through Northeast Ohio left thousands of people without power Thursday night.
on Twitter from Fairport Harbor in Lake County that showed damage to multiple trees in the village. Jim Sullivan, a meteorologist with the weather service, says winds of about 81 mph were recorded at Fairport Harbor.
More than 30,000 customers were without power in Cuyahoga County as of 10:30 p.m., according to FirstEnergy. Parma had over 8,000 outages, Cleveland over 7,000, and North Olmsted more than 4,600. Throughout the evening, Cuyahoga, Lorain, Medina, and Trumbull counties all had flood advisories or warnings issued by the National Weather Service. Most of the advisories were scheduled to expire by 11 p.m.
Sullivan said 2 to 2½ inches of rain fell in less than an hour near the airport. There also were reports of quarter to golf-ball-sized hail in the area of Westlake and North Olmsted.postponed a scheduled concert by Jason AldeanAs for the rest of the night, Sullivan said no more severe weather is expected, although there could be some scattered showers.
