The remnants of Hurricane Ernesto are set to hit the UK, battering Glasgow and the surrounding areas with heavy rain and strong winds across two days.
A weather warning has been issued for Glasgow and surrounding areas as heavy rain and strong winds move in on Scotland later this week. The Met Office warning reads: “A period of heavy rain and strong winds could lead to impacts from flooding.
“The rain will be accompanied by strong southwesterly winds, with gusts perhaps reaching 50-60 mph on the coast and around the islands. With spring tides expected, this could also lead to some potentially dangerous conditions on the coast, with spray and wave overtopping. Peak winds are expected during Wednesday evening. Winds will ease through Thursday, along with a gradual clearance of the rain by the end of the day.
It’s already a wet one in Glasgow today , and that looks set to continue for the rest of the week as remnants of Hurricane Ernesto hit the UK.
