The water main breaks that disrupted service in Dixmoor the past few days are on track to be fixed by Wednesday evening, according to a village spokesman.
Water main breaks that had disrupted service in Dixmoor the past few days were on track to be fixed by Wednesday evening, and no boil orders were in effect in the south suburb, according to a village spokesman.
The district canceled classes Monday and Tuesday at Martin Luther King Elementary and Rosa Parks Middle School, but the district’s Lincoln Elementary School was not affected and remained open. At least six water main breaks were discovered in the village Tuesday, and village officials initially believed the breaks were responsible for cutting off the water supply to residents of the Modern Estates mobile home park, at Western Avenue and 140th Street.
Akin said that the multiple breaks had been occurring “on main water lines that feed the whole village and are at the heart of the system.”
