The Griffins Watching TV In Family Guy Season 11.
Seth MacFarlane's Family Guy universe is officially growing as one of the Griffin family's most iconic members gets their own spinoff. Per Deadline, Fox has now given a two-season order to Stewie, a spinoff series centered around Peter and Lois Griffin's preschool-aged son voiced by MacFarlane.
Stewie is set to premiere during Fox's 2027-2028 TV season, and will stream the day after its network release on Hulu and Disney+. Stewie is also co-created with MacFarlane by Kirker Butler, a seasoned Family Guy veteran on the writer-producer sides. According to Deadline's report, the show's episode count has yet to be officially revealed, but will likely be less than the 15 episodes granted to the previous 20th Animation shows on Fox. The animated series will follow evil genius Stewie Griffin exploring space and time travel as well as preschool, with MacFarlane reprising his role as the titular character. When the story kicks off, the youngest member of Family Guy's Griffins has been kicked out of his old preschool and forced to join an unfavorable new one. Stewie, his classmates, and their class turtle are all"miserable," until he uses his various devices and creations to bring the characters on new adventures across space and time. The new Seth MacFarlane TV show will still make references to the flagship animated series, but reportedly will not interfere with the story and canon of Stewie on Family Guy. Rather, the spinoff is intended to largely be its own entity with a separate preschool and characters. In addition to voicing Stewie Griffin, a role he's maintained since Family Guy's premiere in 1999, MacFarlane will executive produce Stewie under his company Fuzzy Door. Kirker Butler will executive produce and serve as showrunner, with Kara Vallow also holding an executive producer role. In a statement addressing Fox's pickup of Stewie, MacFarlane wittily remarked,"I’d like to thank Fox for this incredible opportunity, and I’m excited to start pretending I’m collaborating closely with them on the show." Kirker's statement followed,"I am honored and humbled that Seth, 20th Television Animation and Fox have trusted me with one of the most iconic animated characters in the history of television. I have known Seth for more than two decades, worked with him on half a dozen projects, and I am hopeful this is the one where he finally learns my name." Currently, it's unclear whether Stewie's spinoff will also feature other returning characters from Family Guy. In addition to numerous recurring and side roles, MacFarlane himself voices multiple main Family Guy characters, including Stewie, his father Peter Griffin, and the family's dog Brian. Meanwhile, Stewie's mother, Lois, is voiced by Alex Borstein, with Mila Kunis and Seth Green lending their voices to his older siblings, Meg and Chris, respectively. Outside of MacFarlane, the voice cast for Stewie has also yet to be revealed. With Deadline confirming a new slate of characters, however, it can be expected that the animated spinoff will include various new actors for the voice ensemble. Stewie now becomes the second Family Guy spinoff series after over 25 years on the air. The new comedy follows Family Guy's original spinoff, The Cleveland Show, which focused on the Griffin family's neighbor, Cleveland Brown , after leaving Quahog. After airing for four seasons on Fox, The Cleveland Show was canceled in 2013. While awaiting more details on Stewie's first two seasons ahead of its intended 2027-2028 premiere, Family Guy season 24 is currently releasing new episodes Sundays on Fox. As of now, Family Guy has been renewed on Fox through season 27. 35 8.1/10 8/10 Family Guy 10 stars 9 stars 8 stars 7 stars 6 stars 5 stars 4 stars 3 stars 2 stars 1 star Like Follow Followed TV-14 Animation Comedy Release Date January 31, 1999 Network FOX Showrunner Seth MacFarlane Directors Peter Shin, Pete Michels, John Holmquist, Greg Colton, Brian Iles, Julius Wu, Joseph Lee, Joe Vaux, Mike Kim, Steve Robertson, Dan Povenmire, James Purdum, Dominic Bianchi, Dominic Polcino, Bob Bowen, Monte Young, Zac Moncrief, Michael Dante DiMartino, Bert Ring, Seth Kearsley, Scott Wood, Chuck Klein, Brian Hogan, Gavin Dell Writers Steve Callaghan, Patrick Meighan, Mark Hentemann, Cherry Chevapravatdumrong, Tom Devanney, Alex Carter, Alec Sulkin, Wellesley Wild, Gary Janetti, Andrew Goldberg, Mike Desilets, Anthony Blasucci, Matt Weitzman, Kirker Butler, Damien Fahey, John Viener, Brian Scully, Ted Jessup, Chris Regan, Matt Pabian, Garrett Donovan, Ricky Blitt, Aaron Lee, Julius Sharpe Cast See All
