In August 2021, Teplitzky, her husband, their children and grandchildren all contracted the coronavirus. The family didn’t have a chance to hug Nathan before he was taken to the hospital. Teplitzky and her daughters were granted a chance to be with him at his room the day before he was intubated. One morning, she walked in alone and her husband said the only words he could muster that day — “I love you.” The last day the family was able to share precious moments with him was Aug. 31.
