Serious thought is needed into establishing fair and equitable funding for public schools in Pennsylvania

We can learn from the past to know what steps need taken.

As an advocate for public education funding I have been watching the recent meetings of the Basic Education Funding Commission and wanted to share some observations.

The court did not establish or specify the “how” to this unconstitutionality for the BEFC, just the “why” this needs done. Directly and indirectly, that the court did not lay out a point by point plan for reform has been mentioned in the commissions meetings. However, we can learn from the past to know what steps need taken.

I am hopeful the BEFC and the legislature will work together to accomplish what is now a required goal by the Commonwealth Court.
