The crash took place near Ernston Road on the Old Bridge/Sayreville border Tuesday morning.
A crash on Route 9 north about a half-mile from the entrance to the Garden State Parkway has caused major delays on the Tuesday morning commute through the area.
All northbound traffic is being detoured off Route 9 onto Ernston Road at the border of Old Bridge and Sayreville, according to state transportation officials. Delays are at least 20 minutes as of 6:25 a.m., according to SigAlert.com, but figure to grow considerably through the morning. Multiple NJ Transit bus lines that travel along Route 9 are being detoured as well. The crash is just north of the Old Bridge Park and Ride. NJ Transit buses will instead travel along Downing Street, Westminster Boulevard, Ernston Road, Washington Road in Sayreville and Main Street in Sayreville to reach the northbound Garden State Parkway, the agency said.
The Old Bridge school district sent an alert to community members saying bus routes will be impacted due to the crash.Police couldn’t immediately be reached for more information.
