Serial killer Robert Pickton died Friday nearly two weeks after an attack in a Canadian prison that left him clinging to life.Pickton, who was known as 'The Pig Farm Killer,' was 74.The attack on May 19 was described as a 'major assault' at Port-Cartier Institution in Quebec, the Correctional Service Canada said in a press release.'The safety and security of our institutions remains paramount for us.
'Pickton was allegedly 'speared in the head' by another inmate with a broom handle fashioned into a weapon.Pickton has admitted to killing 49 women to an undercover officer in his jail cell, but he was convicted of murdering 6. He targeted vulnerable women from Vancouver's Downtown Eastside.Officials found the DNA of 33 different women at Pickton's farm near the city of Port Coquitlam.
