The two tennis icons were drawn Thursday to meet in the first round of the year's final Grand Slam, which begins Monday. The No. 8 seed this year, Serena is seeking her 24th career Grand Slam title, which would tie Margaret Court for first on the all-time list.to win the title even though she has yet to win one since becoming a mother and returning to the WTA tour in early 2018. Williams comes into the Open having battled back issues recently.
