Yesterday, Australian tennis player Ash Barty sent shockwaves through the sporting world after it was announced that she would be retiring at the age of 25.Ash, who is currently ranked number one in the world and most recently won the Australian Open, announced the news on Instagram through a video featuring fellow retired tennis player and commentator Casey Dellacqua.
In it she said,"I don't have the physical drive, the emotional want and everything it takes to challenge yourself at the very top level anymore. I just know that I am absolutely spent. I know physically I have nothing more to give and that for me is success.""I know that people may not understand it and I'm okay with that. I'm so happy, I'm so ready and I just know at the moment in my heart for me as a person that this is right.
