Sennheiser has launched the HD 505, a new pair of open-back, wired headphones designed with comfort and premium style in mind. Available for $279, the HD 505 features a lightweight design, revised ergonomics, and a detachable 3.5mm cable. While sharing similarities with the HD 500-series like the HD 560s and HD 599, the HD 505 boasts a lighter weight, reduced clamping force, and a reworked headband for enhanced comfort. The headphones utilize a revised dynamic driver design aimed at delivering neutral tuning, detailed sound, and a wide soundstage. Despite minor differences in technical specifications compared to the HD 560s, Sennheiser assures users that the listening experience will remain largely comparable.
Sennheiser’s latest open-back, wired headphones put a greater emphasis on comfort and premium style, while keeping a relatively budget-friendly price for those who might be taking their first steps into audiophile listening. The copper and black HD 505 are available starting today on Amazon.
However, the HD 505 are also a departure in a few areas. Some of the biggest changes are in ergonomics. At 237 grams, they’re now the lightest of the 500-series models. Clamping force has also been reduced. The headband has been reworked with a synthetic leather and new cushioning. In theory, these should all lead to greater comfort.
