Our Senior Moments columnist Patricia Bunin gives the lowdown on dressing up.
It was a simple task. Select a dress to wear to a party I was attending that evening.
As my closet grew lighter, my bedroom got more crowded. Next to my happy dress, now hanging on the closet door, was a black lace number that I had worn in a production of “The Twilight Zone” when I played George’s onstage wife. It provoked a twinge of sadness but an abundance of sweetness, earning it a place of honor next to the purple dress.
By the end of the afternoon, my bed was covered with two jumpsuits, one pair of long pants with two possible coordinating tops, two skirts, one short and one long that had a matching top somewhere. I had even hung a lavender sweater on Lark’s cat tree although I don’t remember why or what I thought it might have matched.
