KLUANG: A 67-year-old man was killed after his car was involved in an accident with three other vehicles, including a lorry at KM80 Jalan Johor Baru-Ayer Hitam, here.
“The incident occurred at 9.45am on Monday when the victim, identified as Soh Moi Choi, was heading towards Simpang Renggam from Ayer Hitam.“His vehicle hit the back tyre of a lorry, causing the vehicle to turn and collide with an oncoming SUV vehicle.
“Another incoming vehicle managed to avoid a collision but hit some of the debris on the road,” he said in a statement here. The last vehicle was driven by a 48-year-old woman together with her 45-year-old husband and 24-year-old daughter; all of them were unharmed. The 30-year-old lorry driver was also unharmed.
“The driver of the SUV, a 30-year-old woman, suffered a broken left hand, while her mother, 72, and nephew, 22, suffered minor injuries and are currently being treated at the Kluang Hospital,” he added.Meanwhile, Renggam Fire and Rescue Department operations commander Nizar Mamun said the deceased was pinned inside his vehicle.
“The body was removed using Res-Q tools, and he was later pronounced dead at the location by the medical team,” he said, adding that a total of seven firemen were deployed to the scene with one fire truck.
