With Send Help starring Rachel McAdams releasing this weekend, there are some things audiences might want to know about the movie beforehand.
arriving in United States theaters this weekend, there are a few things that audiences might want to know about the “Send Help is a survival horror thriller about two colleagues who become stranded on a deserted island, the only survivors of a plane crash,” the official synopsis reads.
“On the island, they must overcome past grievances and work together to survive, but ultimately, it’s a battle of wills and wits to make it out alive.”Some audiences walking into Send Help may only know Raimi through his blockbuster superhero movies like Spider-Man and Doctor Strange, while others may not be familiar with him at all. Raimi, however, is a horror guy through and through, having made such classics like 1981’s The Evil Dead, 1987’s Evil Dead II, 1992’s Army of Darkness, 2009’s Drag Me to Hell, and more. Raimi’s horror movies aren’t just casual, ‘Here’s a jump scare that’s really just a loud noise, there’s a CGI ghost, now let’s pack it up and go home,’ either. He loves practical effects, he loves blood, he loves monsters, and he loves getting weird. Raimi’s horror work may not be for casual horror fans who aren’t particularly fond of gore. The trailers for Send Help don’t necessarily suggest any of this; while intriguing, they paint the movie as a tense survival thriller more than it does a horrifying experience. Critics are saying, however, that this is Raimi diving fully back into horror mode, meaning you can expect there to be a lot more blood than the marketing might have you believe.Brandon Schreur has been writing about comics, movies, television shows, and all things pop culture for roughly five years.
