Texas senators meeting ahead of Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton's impeachment trial did not vote Tuesday on whether to dismiss the articles of impeachment...
The Senate chamber has been transformed into a courtroom, with podiums for witnesses and lawyers set up at the head of the chamber. In a further sign of careful preparations, outside the Capitol’s east end, which the Senate occupies, an arbor service cut dead branches from several live oaks.
Members of the public will be allowed to watch from the gallery above the chamber if they secure a free ticket. If two-third of senators vote to convict Paxton on any article of impeachment, he will be removed from office. They could then choose to bar him from ever holding elected office in Texas again.Advertisement
