They called on the administration to follow all CDC guidelines and to update the public on the contact tracing process.
As the number of cases continues to grow, they wrote it is essential for anyone who may have been exposed to be contacted so they can quarantine and said White House employees have been allowed to come to work after being exposed as long as they are not showing symptoms, despite the possibility for asymptomatic and presymptomatic transmission.
The senators urged the White House to immediately update the public on the contact tracing process, the timeline of the outbreak and if the CDC’s public health guidelines such as social distancing, mask-wearing and quarantining are being followed. White House spokesman Judd Deere said in a statement that there are plans and procedures in place based on CDC guidance and said the White House Medical Unit and the CDC have established a contact tracing program. "The opaque and secretive handling of information related to these events constitutes an obvious threat to public health and is unacceptable in a free nation whose elected leaders must be transparent with and accountable to the American people," the senators wrote.
