The Senate advanced Pete Hegseth as Trump's defense secretary despite allegations of sexual assault against him. Two Republicans, Senators Murkowski and Collins, voted against Hegseth. Hegseth denies the allegations, and the Monterey County District Attorney's Office declined to file charges in 2018 due to lack of proof beyond a reasonable doubt.
The answers were provided to Massachusetts Democratic Sen. Elizabeth Warren in response to additional questions she had for Hegseth as part of the vetting process.
The report does not say that police found the allegations were false. Police recommended the case report be forwarded to the Monterey County District Attorney’s Office for review.
