Arkansas Republican Sen. Tom Cotton said Monday that President Joe Biden's nominee for ambassador to Israel Jack Lew is the 'wrong' person for the job and that the country deserves a better choice and the Senate should not confirm the nomination.

The Senate Foreign Relations Committee voted 12-9 to advance Lew’s nomination to a floor vote in the chamber, despite Republican senators on the committee expressing concerns about his role in former President Barack Obama’s Iran nuclear deal when he served as Treasury secretary in 2015, CNN reported.
An Israel Democracy Institute and Tel Aviv University poll found that 73% of Jewish Israelis believed that the deal posed an "existential threat" to their nation. According to CNN, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., could work to get the vote on the floor for Lew "quickly."
