Alabama Sen. Katie Britt said her first reaction to the assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump was “immense sadness.”

Trump was shot Saturday during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania in what is believed to have been an assassination attempt. Trump was shot in the ear; one attendee is dead and two spectators are reportedly critically injured. The shooter, who has not been identified, was reportedly killed at the scene.
