Jon Husted is expected to appear virtually in a Cleveland courtroom Wednesday as a witness in a trial tied to what prosecutors have called the state’s largest bribery case.

On trial are FirstEnergy CEO Chuck Jones and Vice President Michael Dowling. They are accused of orchestrating a scheme to pay off lawmakers to steer legislation favorable to the utility company. Prosecutors allege the company sent millions of dollars into a dark money group that ultimately made its way to former Ohio House Speaker Larry Householder, who helped shepherd a $1 billion bailout for the company’s nuclear power plants. Husted’s connection to the case centers on his time as Ohio’s lieutenant governor. Prosecutors say FirstEnergy executives had easy access to Husted and that he helped get a FirstEnergy ally installed on the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio. Gov. Mike DeWine was also on the witness list but has not been called to testify. Neither Husted nor DeWine has been accused of wrongdoing.Husted will testify virtually because he is in Washington and said he cannot leave due to the conflict in Iran.Developing...We are following a major closure on the southwest outerbelt in Columbus. As of 1pm on March 10th, I-270 is closed in both directions between GeorgeProfessional bowling is returning to Central Ohio for the first time in six years as the world’s top athletes prepare to compete in the 2026 Pilgrim’s PBA OhioProsecutors presented new evidence Monday against former Ohio State linebacker Darron Lee, including a ChatGPT query allegedly sent by the ex-NFL player seekingA man was killed in a fiery crash in Richland County after his car left the roadway and hit several trees, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.A 20-year-old Dublin man is in jail after being charged with arson in connection with a fire that damaged the deck of a home under construction, and investigato
