U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell and U.S. Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal joined striking Boeing workers at a rally in Seattle on Tuesday.

Sen. Maria Cantwell and Rep. Pramila Jayapal joined Boeing employees on the picket lines at a rally in Seattle on Oct. 15, 2024. This rally comes over a month after union members voted to go on strike.

“It’s time for Boeing to pay back the workers who sacrificed so much over the last decade in the face of rampant mismanagement by corporate executives,” said Jon Holden, President of IAM District 751. “The goal is to achieve respect and fair pay for the hardworking employees of Boeing who are trying to keep the US Aerospace industry a great resource in their communities, in the face of some historically bad corporate decisions and many years of workers making major sacrifices.

“We remain committed to finding a resolution to end the strike. We will work with the union when they are ready to bargain an agreement that recognizes our employees and preserves our company’s future,” a Boeing spokesperson told KOMO News. A spokesperson for Su said she met with both parties on Monday to assess the situation. She encouraged them to move forward in the bargaining process."The most important thing is to get back to the table but we’ll call on anybody who can help us," Cantwell told KOMO News.
