Four of the five defendants have pleaded not guilty. The fifth defendant, Uribe, pleaded guilty in May, and part of his plea deal involved cooperating with prosecutors and agreeing to testify against Menendez at trial, according to the agreement. A court filing unsealed last month revealed that Menendez’s defense strategy could involve blaming his wife.
