An Idaho-based semiconductor firm will invest $30 million over the next two years to expand and relocate its North Texas operations in Richardson., a Fortune 500 semiconductor memory and storage manufacturer, will house a research facility in Richardson’s Innovation Quarter. The firm will occupy three floors and 60,000 square feet of office at 1500 N. Greenville Ave.The expansion will bring approximately 250 new jobs to Richardson with an average salary of $164,000.

The city of Richardson will provide Micron a $300,000 improvement grant. The grant will be paid in two installments once Micron meets established conditions.Boise, Idaho-based Micron has over 50,000 employees and operates in more than 30 major cities worldwide. In late 2020, the semiconductor firm announced that it would occupy two floors at One Bethany West in Allen. Micron reported annual revenues of $25.11 billion during the 2024 fiscal year.

Micron’s certificate of occupancy for the Richardson office was approved in August, city officials said. “As the only U.S.-based manufacturer of memory semiconductors, Micron is excited to continue to grow our R&D capability in Texas, with a focus on enabling future industry-leading memory products,” Scott DeBoer, executive vice president and chief technology and products officer at Micron, said in a statement.
