After a 41-17 victory over West Chester Rustin in the 5A semifinals, Roman Catholic has found itself playing for a state championship for the first time in school history next Friday at Cumberland Valley.Penalties and two first-quarter turnovers stopped any momentum Roman managed to build during its drives. One of those turnovers directly led to a Rustin kicker Freddie Adler 30-yard field goal. The second half was a complete 180 from the first half.

Head coach Rick Prete decided to keep his guys out on the field with one thing on his mind, winning the game. Prete’s aggressiveness paid off as wide receiver Eyan Stead took a read option 15 yards for a first down. After great individual efforts, Beals and Stead hooked up on an 18-yard touchdown pass that gave Roman a lead it never relinquished.“The kids work really hard. Coaching and being around these kids, it’s not about the result of the football game. It’s the culmination of the work they put in.
