SELMA, Ala. - Following a week of precautionary online schooling, Selma City Schools officials confirm they are set to return to their regular, in-person schedules on Monday.
Several shootings involving teenagers in the Selma City school district last weekend prompted Selma High School and Saints Virtual Academy/Alternative School to . Superintendent Zickeyous Byrd said the decision was made out of “concerns of possible retaliation.”caused them to go into lockdown most of the day as police worked to track down the threats.
Following the incident, the school district decided to send the same two schools back to virtual learning for the rest of the week out of concern for student safety. The school district’s community and family engagement specialist, Cynthia Milledge, confirmed that both schools plan to return to their in-person learning schedules on Monday.
