Selma Police Chief Kenta Fulford is being placed on paid administrative leave for a second time, according to the mayor’s office.

In a statement made Tuesday afternoon, Mayor James Perkins Jr., confirmed Fulford’s leave “pending the outcome of legally required due process.” The mayor did not immediately release details on Fulford’s latest suspension, but said he would provide the reason in a Wednesday news conference.on administrative leave in early 2023,
claiming it was due to Fulford’s failure to return to Selma for tornado rescue and recovery efforts. Fulford, who said he was in Dothan for training at the time of the storms,The mayor said Fulford’s latest leave will be followed by a due process hearing, which will be conducted by the City Council.
