Selena Gomez returns to Wizards of Waverly Place. In the role of teenage wizard Alex Russo, and alongside siblings Justin and Max , Gomez's starring turn in Wizards of Waverly Place was one of several shows that helped define an era of Disney Channel comedies. Combined with the success of Lizzie McGuire, The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, and Hannah Montana, these family sitcoms launched a generation of young stars and still attract new viewers today.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY The fandom for the series, which follows on the Russo siblings as they train to become wizards, was evident when Gomez reunited with former co-star Jennifer Stone in a viral moment to recreate the show's memorable Crazy Funky Junky Hat song. But the show's impact has been illustrated in a number of other ways, including an Emmy win, international adaptations, and a television special that reunited the cast after the sitcom came to a close.
Could A Wizards Of Waverly Place Reboot Happen? Over the years, there has been a lot of talk about a potential Wizards Of Waverly Place revival. Henrie noted that, although formal discussions had not taken place, all the key actors would be open to reprising their roles. Series creator Todd J. Greenwald has said both that he'd like for the story to continue as a feature film and a prequel series that would focus on Russo patriarch Jerry .
Earlier this year, while promoting Only Murders in the Building season 2, Gomez shared that she would love to reboot Wizards Of Waverly Place and noted that it would be the right time for it. Although nothing has been confirmed so far, the willingness of the cast and creative team indicates that the Russo family could be revisited down the line. At the very least, it seems that Gomez is excited to check in with Alex now that a decade has passed.
