Selena Gomez says learning more about her bipolar diagnosis took her fear away

singer has revealed she was recently diagnosed withseries via Instagram Live, Gomez spoke about how she was coming to terms with the diagnosis.“I went to one of the best mental hospitals in America, McClean Hospital, and I discussed that after years of going through a lot of different things, I realised that I was bipolar,” Gomez explained.

“I never had full awareness or answers about this condition. When I have more information, it actually helps me – it doesn’t scare me once I know it.”Gomez then went on to explain how educating herself about bipolar disorder, whichhad helped her to overcome the fear she had initially felt in response to the diagnosis.

“When I was younger, I was scared of thunderstorms and my Mum bought me all these books on thunderstorms … she was like ‘the more you educate yourself on this, the more that you’re not going to be afraid’,” the singer explained. “It completely worked.
