In Hotel Translyvania: Transformania, Dracula is planning to retire and leave the hotel to Mavis and Johnny, only to have second thoughts when Johnny begins telling him about his plans to renovate. Dracula lies about a monster law that wouldn't allow a human to own the hotel. While Johnny mopes, Van Helsing offers a solution: he has a ray that can turn Johnny into a monster, which the young man excitedly accepts.
