Radio 2000 host DJ Sbu joins a host of celebrities who have backed Chidimma Adetshina to win the Miss SA crown amid controversy surrounding her nationality after she revealed her parents’ roots.
The 23-year-old model has undoubtedly made many headlines after revealing her parents’ roots. Chidimma Adetshina, a South African citizen born and raised in Johannesburg, revealed that her father is Nigerian and her mother is a South African but with Mozambican roots.Chidimma Adetshina’s parents’ ethnicity has since thrust her into the top trends, with many flooding social media feeds with their two cents.
However, against the backdrop of his remarks, DJ Sbu and a host of celebrities have shown support for Chidimma Adetshina. He seemingly took a swipe at those questioning her nationality because of her parents.
The DJ said South Africans should focus on other issues rather than hating Chidimma Adeshina, who entered the competition legitimately. The DJ also said South Africans should rally behind the young girl and desist from selected outrage.No doubt, DJ Sbu joins a host of celebrities and politicians who have supported the 23-year-old amid xenophobic comments.
Taking to X, formerly Twitter, celebrated rapper Rouge posted, “Wishing this beauty all the best. I can’t imagine the pain of seeing all these painful messages daily. Keep your head up, mama.” Surprisingly, the award-winning rapper was born in South Africa to Congolese parents.
