SEPANG, June 20 — Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah and Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin today left for the Holy Land to perform the Haj pilgrimage.
The special aircraft carrying Sultan Sharafuddin and Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin took off from the Bunga Raya Complex, Kuala Lumpur International Airport here, at 3pm. Among those who accompanying the royal couple to the Holy Land are state mufti, Datuk Anhar Opir, Imam of Sultan Salahuddin Mosque, Abdul Aziz Shah Abdul Karim Maaseng Al-Makki and Lembaga Tabung Haji Travel and Services manager Syahrimi Ilias.
The Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah was present to send off the Sultan of Selangor and Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor.The Sultan of Selangor announced that he had performed the Haj in 2002, and for this year’s Haj season, he will perform the pilgrimage with Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor.Muslims in Malaysia will celebrate Aidiladha on June 29. — Bernama
