SEGUIN, Texas - Seguin Independent School District has decided to close its doors in observation of the Total Solar Eclipse. Seguin ISD will be closed on April 8 so students and staff can enjoy the last Total Solar Eclipse visible from the United States until 2044. The district cited the significance of the astronomical event, but also the impact that tourism will have on student transportation.“We are fortunate to reside in an area that will allow us to witness this phenomenon firsthand,” said the district on Facebook. “We encourage everyone in the Seguin community to take this opportunity to witness the solar eclipse safely and enjoy this extraordinary event with friends and loved ones.”Other districts have also canceled classes for eclipse day.
