Seeking balance, Rick Bowness shuffles Stars’ lines ahead of Game 2 vs. Flames | MDeFranks

The Dallas Stars celebrate a second period goal by Denis Gurianov #34 of the Dallas Stars against the Calgary Flames in Game Six of the Western Conference First Round during the 2020 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs at Rogers Place on August 20, 2020 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.CALGARY, Alberta — Stars coach Rick Bowness shuffled his lines ahead of Game 2 vs.

Bowness said that part of the reason why he opted for a balanced approach was because the Stars are on the road, and without last change. The Stars split up Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin. The pair spent almost 600 minutes together at 5 on 5 during the regular season and the Stars were consistently outshot, outchanced and outscored with both of them on the ice at the same time.

Benn enters Thursday without a point in any of his last eight games . Seguin has one goal and two assists in the same time span. “They weren’t generating any offense together, and it wasn’t just that game,” Bowness said. “It was leading up to it. You look over the last four or five games of the regular season, there was nothing there.”The Stars opted to keep Marian Studenic and Jacob Peterson has healthy scratches. Studenic has not played since April 21 at Calgary, while Peterson was a healthy scratch in three of the last four regular-season games.

“The guys that are playing can give us more offense,” Bowness said. “We’ve got to get more from those guys. It’s my job to push them and get more from the guys that are playing. Is there more offense on the table with those guys? Absolutely.”The Flames appear to be over John Klingberg’s postgame comments about Rasmus Andersson following Game 1.On Thursday morning, Milan Lucic and Dillon Dube were asked if they prepare for anything following Klingberg’s comments.
