About 11:19 a.m., a male security guard was exiting a business in the 0-100 block of South State Street when he was approached by someone who attempted to rob him, police said. A struggle ensued and the security guard produced a gun and fired shots, striking the suspect.The suspect then fled the scene with proceeds, police said, but was found and apprehended a short time later. The suspect was transported to a nearby hospital and was last listed in stable condition.
