Security, cooling are top concerns for Houston Pride organizers this weekend
. The parade will continue up Smith Street to Walker Street, then to Milam Street. The event starts at 7 p.m. so that much of the parade happens after sunset at 8:26 p.m.
as organizers plan for the best way to hold the festival in 2024 while navigating rising costs and daytime heat., the organization said the Houston Fire Department aided 106 people and 12 were taken to nearby hospitals during last year's event. The cooling buses provided were full within hours, and the organization took on additional costs to combat the heat, according to the post.
