The Pentagon announced that Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin was admitted to Walter Reed Medical Center Sunday afternoon.

The press release from the Department of Defense did note that Austin's team had alerted the Deputy Defense Secretary, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff as well as the White House and Congressional leaders.
