The Secret Service driver of the presidential limo testified that former President Donald Trump did not try to take control of the vehicle after his speech on Jan. 6, 2021. This contradicts the claims made by a witness who alleged that Trump lunged for the steering wheel in a fit of rage. The transcript of the driver's testimony was made public on Monday.
According to Hutchinson, she was told that after delivering his speech at the Ellipse on Jan. 6 , 2021, then-President Donald Trump wanted to accompany the crowd on their march to the Capitol. The Secret Service did not permit this to happen, and, in a fit of rage, Trump allegedly lunged for the steering wheel and tried to take control of the presidential limo .
It was a ludicrous story that strained credibility from the moment it was uttered, especially given Hutchinson’s own history of flip-flopping before her made-for-TV testimony. So it was no surprise that in November 2022, the Secret Service driver of the presidential limo testified to the committee behind closed doors that it never happened.
