Jack Butland's brilliant debut season with Rangers ended in shuddering fashion.
It was the moment Celtic fans dreamed of and the primal reaction to Adam Idah 's winner was hard to resist – even for those in a working capacity at Hampden.
Rangers were downed, Hoops punters were jubilant and one steward was leaping into the night sky, it encapsulated the madness of a fixture without compare. Jack Butland's brilliant debut season with Rangers ended in shuddering fashion as he made a mess of Paulo Bernardo's crack at goal for Idah to pounce and win the Scottish Cup.
And one security official, overcome with emotion, couldn't help celebrate the Celtic fans, er, celebrating as the Republic of Ireland striker pounced to land Brendan Rodgers' serial winners a double to continue their unprecedented domination of Scottish football. If the steward was going tonto then Idah himself was cold as ice and he was unmoved post match as the on-loan Norwich striker weighed up what was next for him as he heads back to Carrow Road: He said: “I said I’d come here to try and score as many goals as I could, I didn’t think I’d score a goal like this in front of all these fans. It’s an amazing feeling.
“It’s hard to put into words. Anyone here can see what it means to the fans, to the players. I’ve always supported Celtic, it’s amazing. Football is tricky. I love it here, I’ve said it previously, it’s a great club but I’m still contracted to Norwich. I’ll go back in the summer and who knows?”
