A second victim has died following an RV fire in Everett, Washington. The tragic incident occurred on February 7th, and authorities are investigating the cause of the blaze. The EFMO issued a warning about the dangers of living in an RV with hoarding conditions, citing the increased fire risk due to obstructed escape routes, excessive combustibles, and potential electrical damage.
The Everett Fire Marshal’s Office has confirmed a second victim has died following an RV fire last week. The tragedy occurred on February 7th shortly after 10:30 AM in the 11100 block of Paine Field Way. Witnesses reported seeing smoke and flames coming from the motorhome. Two Snohomish County PUD employees, who were in the area for an unrelated job, heroically rescued a woman from the burning RV before firefighters arrived.
Upon arriving at the scene, firefighters began extinguishing the blaze and entered the RV after learning there might be another victim inside. The Everett Fire Marshal’s Office (EFMO) stated that the occupants had been living in the RV, which presented 'significant challenges for the firefighters due to the excessive personal belongings cluttering the inside.' The firefighters described navigating through hoarding conditions as they searched for the second victim. They eventually discovered an adult man inside the RV.Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire within five minutes of arrival. The rescued woman was transported to the hospital. Details regarding whether the man and woman were full-time residents of the RV and the duration of its stay at that location remain unclear. Paine Field Way was closed for several hours during the investigation. The origin and cause of the fire are still under investigation by the Everett Fire Marshal’s Office, while the Everett Police Department is handling the death investigation. Preliminary findings do not suggest any criminal activity related to the cause of the fire. The EFMO issued a warning, stating that living in an RV with hoarding conditions dramatically increases the fire risk due to blocked escape routes, an abundance of combustible materials, and potential damage to electrical wiring. The agency stressed the importance of safety precautions, regardless of whether one lives in an RV or a home, emphasizing that hoarding can severely impede emergency responders' ability to assist in critical situations and pose significant risks to the occupants' safety. Residents are advised to keep combustibles away from heat sources, maintain clear exits, regularly inspect electrical systems, and establish a well-defined escape plan. The installation of working smoke and carbon monoxide alarms is also highly recommended

This figure is down from both Joe Biden's 2021 inauguration (33.8 million) and Trump's first inauguration in 2017 (30.6 million). Nielsen attributes the decline partly to the extended coverage time, which may have led viewers to tune out as the day progressed.
