A second Safe Haven Baby Box has been installed at the Crichton fire station in Mobile, Alabama, providing a safe and legal option for parents facing the difficult decision of surrendering their newborn. These boxes allow parents to anonymously drop off infants up to 45 days old, ensuring their safety and avoiding tragic situations like the discovery of a dead newborn in a dumpster in Memphis. The initiative aims to offer hope and support to mothers who may feel overwhelmed and unable to care for their child.

) - There’s now a second Safe Haven Baby Box in Mobile. Baby boxes give women, or men, who are unable to take care of their newborns, a safe place to drop them off without facing prosecution. It can also save a baby’s life.

Parents who don’t think they can care for their newborn that’s 45 days old or younger, now have a climate controlled place to drop them off. No questions asked. Kelsey was in Mobile for the ceremony. A retired firefighter and medic, Kelsey created the box because she was abandoned as a newborn in 1973.

Hines said, “I brought this idea to the former fire administration they told me to go for it and that’s what I went with.”
